13 Best Things to Do in Los Cristianos – A Personal Guide
When it comes to planning a holiday in Tenerife, Los Cristianos often comes out on top as a favourite destination.
This town in the south of Tenerife is more than just a beach resort—it’s a place with a rich history, vibrant culture, and endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. Whether you’re here for the sunshine, the sandy beaches, or the lively atmosphere, Los Cristianos has something for everyone.

Las Vistas beach
Playa Las Vistas is one of my go-to spots when I’m in Los Cristianos. This man-made beach is perfect for families, couples, and solo travellers alike. With its golden sand, clear waters, and breakwaters that keep the waves at bay, it’s an ideal place to swim, sunbathe, or just relax.
The facilities here are top-notch—sunbeds, showers, toilets, and even access for those with disabilities.
I find the water here to be warmer than at other beaches, especially in the winter months, making it my preferred spot for a dip when the weather is cooler. If you’re travelling with kids, they’ll love the inflatables in the water.
And if you’re like me and enjoy a peaceful morning swim, try getting here early before the crowds arrive.
Los Cristianos beach
Just next door to Playa Las Vistas, you’ll find Playa Los Cristianos. This beach has a slightly different vibe—it’s a bit busier, thanks to its proximity to the ferry terminal. Here, you can watch boats set off for La Gomera while lounging on the sand or trying your hand at some water sports.
What I love about Playa Los Cristianos is its easy access to a variety of restaurants and bars.
If you’re planning to spend the day at the beach, you’ll find plenty of places to grab a bite without venturing too far. Plus, the sunbeds here are a bit cheaper than at Playa Las Vistas, so it’s a good option if you’re planning to stay all day.
Playa el Callao
For those days when you just want to get away from it all, Playa del Callao is the perfect retreat. This small, secluded beach is on the eastern edge of Los Cristianos and offers a quiet escape from the busier beaches in town.
Don’t expect too many facilities here—there’s a small beach bar, but that’s about it. However, this beach is known for its privacy, which has made it popular with nudists. Even if you’re not planning to sunbathe, it’s worth the walk to explore this peaceful corner of Los Cristianos.
Siam Park
No trip to Tenerife is complete without a visit to Siam Park, especially if you’re travelling with family or if you’re an adrenaline junkie. Consistently rated as one of the best water parks in the world, Siam Park is just a short drive from Los Cristianos, and it’s an absolute must-do.
The park is designed to resemble a Thai paradise, complete with lush gardens, waterfalls, and an array of thrilling water slides. Whether you’re brave enough to tackle the Tower of Power or prefer to float down the lazy river, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to break up your beach days with some intense fun.
Los Cristianos Market
Los Cristianos market takes place every Tuesday and Sunday. This is the largest market in the south of Tenerife, and it’s a treasure trove of souvenirs, clothing, and other trinkets.
The market is crowed, so it’s a good idea to arrive early to beat the crowds. And as with any busy market, keep an eye on your belongings. But don’t let that deter you—this is the place to find unique gifts and souvenirs to take home, from handcrafted jewelry to locally produced wines.
Jungle Park
If you’re visiting Los Cristianos with kids or are simply an animal lover, Jungle Park is a fantastic day out.
This zoological park is just a short shuttle ride away and offers a variety of animal exhibits, shows, and beautiful gardens.
I find Jungle Park to be a bit less overwhelming than Loro Parque, which is further north, making it a great option if you want to stay close to Los Cristianos.
The bird of prey show is a highlight, and the park’s layout allows for a relaxed, enjoyable experience with plenty of shady spots to take a break.
Boat Tour to See Dolphins and Whales
One of the most memorable experiences you can have in Los Cristianos is taking a boat tour to see dolphins and whales.
The town’s harbour is one of the main departure points for these tours, and there are several options to choose from, ranging from small group trips to larger catamaran cruises.
I’ve been on a few of these tours, and I can’t recommend them enough. The waters around Tenerife are home to a resident population of pilot whales and several species of dolphins, so your chances of spotting these incredible creatures are quite high.
It’s an unforgettable experience and a great way to connect with the natural beauty of the Canary Islands.
Day Trip to La Gomera
If you’re staying in Los Cristianos for more than a few days, I highly recommend taking a day trip to the nearby island of La Gomera. The ferry to La Gomera leaves right from Los Cristianos, making it an easy and convenient excursion.
La Gomera is known for its lush landscapes and charming villages. You can either join a guided tour that includes transport and sightseeing on the island or book your ferry tickets and explore on your own.
Either way, you’ll be treated to stunning views, including the Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Monkey Park
Monkey Park is another great option for families, especially if you’re looking for something to do that doesn’t take up the whole day.
This small, interactive zoo is home to a variety of primates, as well as other animals like reptiles and birds.
What sets Monkey Park apart is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals. You can feed some of the monkeys and even walk through enclosures where lemurs and other animals roam freely.
It’s a fun and educational experience, especially for younger children.
Playa de Las Americas
One of the things I love most about Los Cristianos is its location on Tenerife’s beautiful southern coast. From here, you can take a leisurely stroll along the promenade all the way to Playa de Las Americas and even further to Costa Adeje if you’re feeling adventurous.
This coastal walk is one of my favourite ways to spend a day. You’ll pass by several beaches, shops, and restaurants along the way, and the views of the ocean are simply stunning.
It’s an easy, flat walk, so it’s suitable for all fitness levels. And if you don’t feel like walking back, there are plenty of buses and taxis available to take you back to Los Cristianos.
Climb Chayofita Mountain
For those who enjoy a bit of hiking, the climb up Chayofita Mountain is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy panoramic views of Los Cristianos and the surrounding area.
The hike is relatively short but can be steep in parts, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water.
I recommend doing this hike early in the morning to avoid the midday heat. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views that make the effort well worth it.
It’s a great way to see Los Cristianos from a different perspective and get some fresh air.
Shop at C.C. Parque Santiago
If you’re in the mood for some retail therapy, head over to C.C. Parque Santiago 6, the largest shopping centre in the area.
This mall has a good mix of high-street brands like H&M and Desigual, as well as a Mercadona supermarket for any essentials you might need during your stay.
I like shopping here because it’s less crowded than some of the other malls in Tenerife, so you can browse at your leisure without feeling rushed.
There’s also an outdoor food court if you need a break or want to grab a bite to eat.
Playa de los Tarajales
Last but not least, Playa de los Tarajales is another beach option in Los Cristianos, though it’s not as popular as Playa Las Vistas or Playa Los Cristianos. This beach has darker, volcanic sand and a more rugged atmosphere, which might not be for everyone.
However, if you’re looking for a quieter spot to relax, Playa de los Tarajales could be just what you need. It’s not as developed as the other beaches, so you won’t find many facilities here, but that also means fewer crowds. It’s a nice place to unwind if you’re in the mood for something a little different.
