    When it comes to flight prices to Tenerife, the range can vary widely based on the departure location and the time of the year you decide to visit Tenerife. However, this will be most probably your biggest expensive when visiting the island. 

    As usual planning ahead and avoiding peak travel seasons can often find significant savings. 

    On average, round-trip flights from various European locations to Tenerife can fall within the range of £150 to £500

    Utilizing flight comparison tools (Like Expedia flight comparaison tool) is highly recommended to secure the most favorable deals. 

    It’s important to keep in mind that prices can fluctuate based on factors such as the airline, time of booking, and any ongoing promotions.

    How Expensive is Food in Tenerife?

    Tenerife offers a wide range of dining options, while there are upscale options available, including fine dining and even Michelin-starred establishments, affordable dining is also abundant.

    Menu del Dia (Daily Menu) is a popular choice, typically priced around 10€ in Tenerife. This option typically includes a starter, main dish, and drink, though it’s more commonly available on weekdays in non-touristy areas.

    For those preferring à la carte dining, prices for two can range from 25€ to 50€ in restaurants spanning from budget to mid-range.

    For a standard meal at an inexpensive restaurant, you’re looking at around 10-15 per person. A three-course meal at a mid-range restaurant can set you back about 30-40 per person.

    The cost of cocktails varies between 5€ to 10€, with occasional happy hour promotions offering discounts. However, in upscale venues boasting great ambiance or scenic views, expect to pay a bit more for a cocktail. Beer prices generally range from 1.5€ to 4€ in most establishments, but some beachfront bars may offer pints for as low as 1€ or 1.5€.

    Tenerife South  stands out as the most popular area due to its consistently sunny and warm weather. But, if you’re looking to save on accommodation costs, exploring options in the northern part of the island might be advantageous, especially during the summer months when the weather there is also warm. 

    The northern area is ideal for those interested in hiking and nature walks (you can find cheap accommodation in La Laguna, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto dela Cruz).

    2. Mid-range: Kn Aparthotel Panorámica and Hotel Best Jacaranda in Costa Adeje are favored mid-range accommodations, with costs ranging between 75000€ and 1000€ per week for two.
    3. High-end: Royal Hideaway Corales Beach – Adults Only, managed by Barceló Hotel Group, represents one of the newer 5-star hotels in the southern region. However, it’s also among the more expensive options, with a weekly rate of around 2700€ for two people, including breakfast. .

    The cost of accommodation can vary significantly depending on factors such as the time of year you plan to travel. Peak periods like Easter, summer holidays, Christmas, and New Year tend to be more expensive. 

    Ultimately, planning your trip to Tenerife in advance can help you find affordable accommodation options without compromising on the quality of your stay.

    Cost of Getting Around in Tenerife - Taxi, Bus, and Car Hire

    Bus (locally known as Guagua)

    TITSA operates the bus system in Tenerife, offering convenient transportation options across the island.

    Payment can be made in cash on the bus, or for frequent travelers, a ten+ card is available, which offers reduced fares per ride.

    For instance, a bus journey from Costa Adeje to Tenerife South airport costs 3.7€ with cash payment and 3.15€ with a ten+ card.

    Car Hire

    Car hire presents an affordable option for exploring Tenerife independently and at your own pace.

    Reserving from reputable companies like Cicar, car hire rates typically start from around £70 for a week (Full insurance), though prices may vary depending on factors such as booking lead time and seasonal demand.

    Taxi

    Taxis offer another convenient means of transportation on the island, particularly for shorter journeys or those requiring more direct routes.

    Taxi fares in Tenerife vary depending on distance traveled and time of day, typically starting from a base rate and increasing with distance.

    While generally pricier than buses, taxis provide a door-to-door service and can be a convenient option for travelers seeking comfort and efficiency in their transportation.

    Fuel Prices in Tenerife

    Fuel prices in Tenerife are lower than the European average. This makes car rental an attractive option for exploring the island.

    Among the well-known gas stations in the region are Disa, BP, Cepsa, Repsol, and Shell.

    As of 2024, the price of fuel is approximately 1.2 €/liter for Unleaded.

    Of course, prices may vary depending on the specific gas station. I personally found GM Oil the cheapest fuel station in Tenerife and they have two locations (Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Adeje).

     

    How Much Money Do You Need in Tenerife?

    Your daily budget in Tenerife can vary greatly depending on your travel style. For a budget traveler, 50-70 euros per day can cover accommodation, food, and transportation.

    For a more comfortable experience, 100-150 euros per day would allow for nicer accommodations, dining, and activities.

    Is Tenerife Expensive?

    Tenerife offers a range of options for every budget. 

    While it’s possible to splurge on luxury experiences, the island is also accessible for those looking to enjoy its beauty without breaking the bank. With some planning and good choices, Tenerife can be a surprisingly affordable destination.

    So, Tenerife’s cost depends largely on your choices. From flights and accommodations to food and transportation, there are ways to save.
